In a communiqué to state electoral officer Satyabrata Sahoo on Sunday, the EC said it has cancelled the byelection following a report of the Tiruvarur district electoral officer that it was not conducive to hold the byelection as cyclone Gaja relief had not been distributed in many areas of the constituency.
