Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp totally baffled by who wins Golden Boot after being told Arsenal striker Aubameyang scores twice against Burnley
JURGEN KLOPP was left baffled after discovering Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had shared the Golden Boot with his Liverpool hotshots Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
The Anfield boss agonisingly missed out on leading the Reds to a first title in 29 years yesterday after they were pipped to the Premier League by Manchester City.
His side finished a point behind the champions despite the 2-0 victory over Wolves at Anfield.
Despite that setback, two of Klopp’s star men did end the season with some silverware courtesy of their goalscoring exploits.
Ahead of the final day’s fixtures, Salah was leading the way in the race to be the top-flight’s top scorer with 22.
But team-mates Sadio Mane drew level with him by bagging both against Wolves while Aubameyang also took his tally to same figure with a brace for Arsenal in their 3-1 win at Burnley.
After all the full-time whistles, all three men were presented their own Golden Boot award by Prem officials.
But that decision appeared to leave Klopp confused when he was asked about his star duo.
‘DO THEY MAKE THREE?’
He said: “Do we have the two top goalscorers, right? Oh, Auba scored twice again? At Burnley?
“Wow, I never would have expected that.
“How do they do that now, do they make three golden boots? Or everybody gets it for three months? So, all my players, eh?”
Klopp was referring at the end to the time Aubameyang spent playing under him for Dortmund between 2013 to 2015.
The Gabon international then followed his old manager to England three years after Klopp joined Liverpool by signing for Arsenal in January 2018.
Aubameyang said: “I share this trophy with two other guys I like, great players and African. We are representing Africa, that’s cool.
“I am happy we won, and I am sharing this [Golden Boot] trophy with two other guys I like.
“My team-mates knew about the Golden Boot, I said nothing. I did not want them to play and only focus on me. I am a team player.”

That year Dimitar Berbatov and Carlos Tevez both shared the prize after firing 20 goals each.
