Templegate’s racing tips: Haydock, Newmarket and Beverley – Top betting preview for ITV’s racing on Saturday

QAYSAR can star in this tough handicap. Richard Hannon is in sparkling form and his four-year-old has dropped down to his last winning mark for the first time since scoring at Newbury last season.
He shaped well in the red-hot Victoria Cup last time on just his second start in almost a year. That should have blown the cobwebs away and this trip suits well.
Poet’s Dawn likes this quirky course and was a solid third here over an extended mile last time out. He was too near a hot pace there and just ran out of petrol late on.
This drop in distance should help and he won’t be far away. Rousayan is another who wasn’t beaten far here last time and will appreciate this shorter distance.
He’s down the weights and has a capable claimer on board for good measure. Love Dreams has been knocking on the door and went close again when on the podium at Epsom last week.
His win ratio isn’t great but he’s a pretty safe each-way bet.
Elerfaan warrants this step up in class after a good second at Chester last time. He was beaten just a neck there and won the last time he tackled this course and distance.

Fillies improve so quickly at this age and LIBERTY BEACH was highly impressive when scoring on debut at Redcar 12 days ago. She travelled well before picking up her rivals readily in the final furlong.
It didn’t look as though she’d hit top gear and there should be a lot more to come. Lady Quickstep was half a length away in second in that race and there’s no obvious reason why she can turn that form around.
A bigger threat could be Rose Of Kildare who won well dropped to this distance at Hamilton last time. She gives the impression that further may suit — as it did when she won at Redcar last month — but there is plenty of ability there.
Richard Fahey won this last year and his Three Coins could be the pick of his pair ahead of newcomer Moon Of Love. She looked green at Ripon last month but still managed to win well on debut.
There is sure to be more to come. Execlusive can’t be ruled out either after a good debut win over course and distance. This is tougher but there’s plenty to build on after what was a comfortable success.

OH PURPLE REIGN can rule for Richard Hannon. He went into plenty of notebooks when winning on his debut at Nottingham last month when showing excellent pace over 6f.
He was then booted up in class at Epsom on Oaks day where he improved when chasing home a classy Godolphin colt who is now heading to Royal Ascot.
It was a good effort to finish second especially as Epsom’s camber didn’t seem to suit. A repeat of that would be good enough. It’s worth forgiving Xcelente a modest run when an odds-on second at Pontefract last time.
He earlier scorched home on his debut and has a lot more to offer. Summer Sands comes here after a good debut third at York last time out. That was over this distance and he did well to finish third despite running very green.
He finished the race well and can take a big step forward here. Dream Shot was green when winning at Goodwood on debut 15 days ago and comes from in-form trainer James Tate. The opposition is a fair bit tougher here but he can progress and has plenty of pace for this trip.

HAYDOCK

ALHAAZM overcame Prejduce and Gantier to finish second at Newbury last time and they should end up battling this contest out again. The tip has had just four runs and was making his handicap debut for Sir Michael Stoute.
He travelled sweetly and it took a really good performance by the winner to stop him coming out on top. He’s bred to be classy and is certain to improve for that experience from what looks a very fair mark.
Gantier is another who is improving with racing and was half a length behind the tip last time. He wasn’t helped by being hampered coming out of the stalls so giving them all a head start.
He looked a tricky ride but still finished well and is a threat again. Prejudice was more of an eyecatcher given the way he charged home after being out the back early on.
He looked as though the run would bring him on and the handicapper has been generous in putting him up just 1lb.
Mind The Crack looks best of the rest after a convincing maiden win on turf at Lingfield last time out. He saw out this distance well there and should make a nice handicapper.

Willie Mullins doesn’t send many Flat horses over to the UK so take the hint about TRUE SELF. She is a useful hurdler who has won four of her five runs on the level.
She has already mounted to successful raids across the Irish Sea to land Listed raced at Bath and Newmarket in good style last season. She came back from a break to win in that class at Gowran last month with plenty left to offer.
This slight drop in trip isn’t an issue and she looks more than capable of winning a Group 3 like this. Klassique looks the threat after a solid comeback second in a Goodwood Listed race.
She pulled a little in the early stages and ran out of petrol just before the line. But it was a solid effort and should see her spot-on for fitness.
Highgarden progressed well last term and won a good race at Newmarket last time out in September. This trip is ideal and trainer John Gosden should have her fit for this comeback.
Pilaster won a Group 2 last season before coming unstuck at the very highest level. She has looked rusty when beaten on both starts this term and her best form has been over further.

INTENSE ROMANCE loves a bit of juice in the ground and is more than capable of adding another Listed win to her tally. She came back at Naas last time where she looked rusty after seven months off.
There was enough zip there to hit the front but fitness let her down in the closing stages. Michael Dods’ mare finished last season like a train with big wins at Ascot and Ayr over this trip.
She also landed a nice handicap win here so we know the course suits well. Old boy Danzeno turned back the clock to hammer his rivals at Nottingham last time by an impressive six lengths.
A repeat of that would see him go very close and he’s a Group 3 winner at his best. Although that was so long ago Newcastle was still a turf track when he won the Chipchase!
Similar comments apply to Stake Acclaim who came back from more than a year off to win easily at Newbury. He loves this trip and should be right there again.
Tarboosh has had a couple of runs this season to blow away the cobwebs and he won some decent races last term over this trip. All ground comes the same and he can’t be ruled out.

Follow the main Man in the John Of Gaunt Stakes. MANKIB looked tailormade for this race when finishing a good second over course and distance on his comeback run last month.
He improved as the race went on and sees out every yard of this trip. With the benefit of that outing, he should go close given that he seems to handle any ground.
Safe Voyage won that race when coming through the pack to score late one. That was an excellent effort and there won’t be a lot between them again but I think the form can be turned around by William Haggas’s improver.
Suedois has been showing decent signs this season and was fourth in that race, a couple of lengths behind the other two. He could finish on the podium again.
Sir Dancealot is dropping down from Group 1 level for the first time since last summer. He’s a proven performer over this distance and wasn’t disgraced in the Lockinge last time out.
The five-year-old doesn’t mind a bit of give in the ground and should find things happening slower at this level. It would be no surprise to see him build on that Newbury run.
NEWMARKET
2.10
AWE had awful luck at Haydock last time and can make up for lost time here. He was fancied for a hot handicap at the Merseyside track but was almost knocked over in the early stages.
That gave him a mountain to climb and he could never get into the race. He was backed for that thanks to an excellent effort at Ascot where he was a close second over this trip. This is just his third handicap run so there should be a lot more to come.
Flashcard was supported before a modest run at Goodwood last month. There were valid excuses for him too given he was coming back from six months off the track. This distance should suit and there’s a lot more to come.
Blown By Wind was a solid second at Leicester on his handicap debut last month when giving the strong impression that this longer distance would be ideal.
Gabrial The Wire finished well when winning at Doncaster last time. He’s up the weights for that but a decent claimer takes over to cancel most of that out.
Richard Fahey’s hope wouldn’t have to improve much to figure. The Queen’s Regular looked a tricky ride when still managing to win at Leicester last time and has more to offer on this handicap debut.
BOXOUT
2.45
Spirit’s strong in this staying contest. SPIRIT RIDGE looks to be crying out for a proper test of stamina after staying on well over two furlongs shorter on comeback at Newmarket last time out.
He finished strongly coming back from seven months off and should be a lot fitter today too. It will be disappointing if he doesn’t develop into something more than a handicapper in time now he tries a trip.
Proschema is another who found 1m4f on the slight side at York last time out. He improved as the race went on but the lollipop came too soon. He’s had a little tickle down the weights which does no harm either.
Red Galileo has been keeping hot company and wasn’t disgraced on his UK return ahead of Proschema at York last time. The Godolphin runner has a hood fitted for the first time at the age of eight and it could pep him up a little.
He stays well enough and wouldn’t be a shock winner. Amazing Red ran well when third at Goodwood last time despite not enjoying the slow pace. There should be more a lick on here which suits well and brings him right into it.
