Heroic Londoners lift bus off woman after she was ‘knocked down while crossing road’
A shocking video shows a group of heroic Londoners lifting a bus off a woman who was trapped underneath.
The woman had been walking on Old Kent Road, in Bermondsey, south east London, shortly after 9.30am on February 3, when she was allegedly struck by the bus.
Frantic members of the public then rushed to help her as she lay in what appeared to be a semi-conscious state.
In a video, filmed by a bystander at the scene, the crowd can be seen gesturing at the driver to ‘pop-up’ the vehicle suspension, as they plan to carry her out from underneath the bus.
A woman can then be heard on the phone to the emergency services telling the operator: ‘She was crossing and they hit her somehow.’
The crowd then uses their strength to lift the bus high enough so that the woman can be moved further along the tarmac.
She then appears to lose consciousness as a paramedic arrives in the road and asks the bystanders if any of them saw what happened.
Chelsea and Manchester United urged to sign Celtic ace by Arsenal legendOne female voice can be heard replying: ‘The bus just hit her. I don’t know how she was under there.’
The woman was treated at the scene before being taken to a major trauma centre, a spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said.
A Met Police spokeswoman said: ‘Police were called at 9.46am on Monday, February 3, to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a bus on Old Kent Road, Southwark.
‘Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and a woman, aged in her 40s, was taken to hospital.
‘Her injuries were not life-changing or life-threatening. No arrests have been made.’
