Big Brother 21: Jack's Chaos Power Explained | Screen Rant

0

Here’s Big Brother 21 houseguest Jack’s Chaos Power explained. Big Brother 21 aired on CBS in 2019 and welcomed sixteen new houseguests into its summer camp-themed house. Over the course of 99 days, those houseguests competed in a range of tasks with the hopes of surviving eviction and making it to the live finale to be declared winner of the season. The prize was a cool $500,000 for the overall winner chosen by a jury of evicted housemates and a not-too-shabby $25,000 for the contestant named America’s Favorite Houseguest in a public vote.

As with other seasons of the long-running reality TV show, Big Brother 21 saw the houseguests compete on a week-by-week basis to be named Head of Household – a perk that means they’re immune from eviction but are also required to nominate two of their fellow housemates for eviction. The houseguests also take part in Power of Veto competitions which see the current Head of Household and their two eviction nominees – alongside three other housemates selected via a random draw – compete for the ability to revoke one houseguest’s nomination.

However, Big Brother 21 threw a wrench in the works with the introduction of the Whacktivity Competition which awarded winning housemates with a game-changing power that disrupted regular proceedings. Whacktivity Competitions took place during the first three weeks of the reality show and saw contestants Ovi Kabir, Jack Matthews and Christie Murphy bestowed with Nightmare Power, Chaos Power and Panic Power, respectively. Of those three housemates, only Jack Matthews activated his power but what did it allow him to do on Big Brother 21?

Jack’s Chaos Power entitled him to force a re-draw of the three housemates randomly selected to take part in a Power of Veto competition. Jack activated his Chaos Power in week 4 after current Head of Household Cliff Hogg put him and his ally Jackson Michie up for eviction. The original Power of Veto line-up for week 4 was Cliff, Jack and Jackson plus randomly selected houseguests Sam Smith, Holly Allen and Jessica Milagros. After Jack instigated a re-draw with his Chaos Power, the three randomly selected contestants were Kathryn Dunn, Analyse Talavera and Sam Smith (again).

By activating his Chaos Power, Jack was hoping to oust Sam from the competition, presumably because Sam already had two Power of Veto wins under his belt at that point. However, as the random draw selected Sam again – by Jack himself, no less – it turned out his power wasn’t actually all that powerful or useful to him during his time on Big Brother 21.
