Because to even imagine the amount of work, dedication and discipline that goes into overcoming adversity so as to emerge victorious is intimidating. So, we would rather be locked in loos and drag a chair to sit at the kitchen door than – in some weird roundabout way – acknowledge it. But when we do that, aren’t we disrespecting the work our athletes have put in?
