Co-meetings of university lecturers banned: MoHE

Ministry of Higher Education of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in an official letter asked all private and public universities not to allow female professors to attend male professors’ meetings.

The letter reads female university students, lecturers, and graduates are no longer allowed to attend mixed meetings with male lecturers.

Meanwhile, the Afghan universities are urged to arrange separate meetings for male students and professors where male ones are not allowed to take part either.

Further, the letter reads those female graduates shall hold their graduation ceremony observing Islamic hijab as no video and photo should be shared on social media.

The new instructions come as secondary schools for Afghan girls are yet to be reopened which has left over one million girls out of schools across Afghanistan.
