Italy come from behind to clinch 3-2 win against Canada
Williams Wong’s bat produced all Italy’s runs in Friday’s contest against Canada, for the Placement Round of the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup, and led his team the their second win in this stage. Wong recorded a sacrifice fly and a pair of RBI singles in the game.
Italy took the lead in the third when Diego Luciani scored from thid after Wong’s sacrifice fly to right field.
Canada overtook the Europeans in the bottom of the fourth, with a line-drive double by Myles Naylor to right-center field, to bring in Dylan O’Rae and Sam White from second and first respectively.
One inning later Wong tied the game with his first RBI single of the game, to plate Edoardo Cornelli and in the seventh Wong hit an infield hit to produce the go-ahead run.
