Sports Briefs: Todd’s 3-point shooting helps Redwood girls to big win
Three Redwood High players scored in double figures as the Giants defeated host Petaluma, 54-33, on Tuesday. Ru Todd led the Giants with 14 points as she was 4-for-5 from beyond the arc. Brooke Denler scored 12 points and Maya Saibel added 10 as Redwood (1-2) picked up its first win of the girls basketball season.
Redwood is scheduled to face San Ramon Valley in Thursday’s first round of the LadyCat Classic at Marin Catholic.
Girls soccer
Addie Covey scored on a late header as Tam rallied for a 1-1 draw against St. Ignatius on Monday. Covey scored in the final two minutes of the game, assisted by Katie Lowenstein. Goalie Emily McMahon made some saves for the Red-tailed Hawks.
College football
Marin Catholic grad Ryan Dolan was honored as Syracuse University’s special teams player of the week for his performance in the Orange’s 35-31 victory over Wake Forest on Saturday. He recorded a tackle among his official stats for the game.
College soccer
Dominican University’ss Diego Grande and Louie Galdamez were named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-West region teams, the school announced Tuesday.
Grande was named to the All-West region first team after he led the PacWest with 13 goals, which included a four-goal effort against Academy of Art on Oct. 21.
Galdamez was named to the All-West region second team as he logged a total of 1,344 minutes as he anchored the Penguins’ backline.
