Keyshia Cole (‘The Masked Singer’ Candelabra) unmasked interview: ‘I lost to a donut!’
The Group C finalists performed songs representing key moment in their on Wednesday night’s “Soundtrack to My Life” episode of “The Masked Singer.” Three mystery celebrities sang their hearts out, but it was Candelabra voted out second after her performance of “I’m Goin’ Down” by Mary J. Blige and a hard-fought Battle Royale against Donut. The fiery diva removed her mask to reveal Grammy-nominated R&B singer Keyshia Cole.
“I lost to a donut!” she exclaimed during her unmasked interview with Nick Cannon. “Only on ‘The Masked Singer’! No, he’s not a donut, he’s somebody spectacular and I can’t wait to see him get unmasked because he was fabulous.”
Before the songstress unmasked the panelists submitted one final guess for who they thought was hiding inside the Candelabra costume. Robin Thicke and Nicole Scherzinger had their golden ears on and recognized Cole’s sultry, powerful voice. Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg and Ken Jeong each went in the wrong direction, guessing Brandy and Kelly Rowland, respectively.
In her clue package Candelabra revealed, “Continuing to set the stage ablaze in this competition feels amazing. I’m pumped to have made it to the Group C finale. Tonight, I’m going to be singing ‘I’m Goin’ Down’ by Mary J. Blige. It’s a song about heartbreak, which I definitely experienced. I was in a relationship for a long time with someone I deeply loved. We had a child and built a life together, but he proved to me over and over again that I couldn’t trust him. I tried to stay for our child, but ultimately staying wasn’t good for any of us and I chose to walk away. I learned that in that moment I had to love myself first, and since then that’s what I’ve been doing. So tonight, I’m sharing my whole heart on that stage and hopefully it’s enough to get me to the finals.”
Celebrities previously unmasked in Season 10 were Demi Lovato (Anonymouse) Anthony Anderson (Rubber Ducky), Tom Sandoval (Diver), Michael Rapaport (Pickle), Billie Jean King (Royal Hen), Tyler Posey (Hawk), Luann de Lesseps (Hibiscus), Metta World Peace (Cuddle Monster), Ashley Parker Angel (S’more), Ginuwine (Husky), Sebastian Bach (Tiki) and John Oates (Anteater).
