Police identify man killed after crash in Manhattan

MANHATTAN (KSNT) - Police are identifying the person who was killed after a crash on Anderson Avenue in Manhattan Thursday.

27 News is following up with the Riley County Police Department (RCPD) on the crash which was first reported around 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 22 on Anderson Avenue beneath Seth Child Road. Police initially reported this as an injury crash but later announced a passenger in one of the car's involved in the wreck was taken to a local hospital for treatment but later died.

Ashley Tokoi, a spokeswoman for the RPCD, told 27 News in a written statement the person who died in the crash is Glen B. Kaw, 78, of Junction City. The driver of the vehicle he was in, a 77-year-old woman of Junction City, was life-flighted to a Topeka hospital for urgent care. A third person, a 41-year-old resident of Riley, involved in the crash was hospitalized in Manhattan with non-life-threatening injuries.

The RCPD initially reported a Honda Civic, driven by the 41-year-old, was traveling east on Anderson Avenue when it hit a Chevy Equinox, containing the Junction City residents, that was trying to make a left turn onto Seth Child Road, causing the Equinox to roll over. Tokoi said a third vehicle, a Ford Focus, was also involved in the crash with its driver, a 35-year-old Manhattan man, being taken to a local hospital for treatment as well.

Tokoi said an investigation into the crash remains active. 27 News will add more information here or in a future article as it becomes available.
