Acting family

Robert was born on March 11, 1960, and is one member of the British acting dynasty The Glenisters.

His dad John was a TV director who worked on the hit ITV series A Touch of Frost.

The actor’s younger brother Philip rocketed to fame in the 2000s for playing DCI Gene Hunt in Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes.

Robert made his own TV debut on the sitcom Sink or Swim which ran from 1980 until 1982.

Only Fools and Horses fame

Robert also starred in one of the most beloved episodes of Only Fools and Horses, in 1992.

In the BBC comedy series, he played Rodney’s friend and millionaire businessman Myles.

His character is fooled by one of Del Boy’s get-rich-quick schemes and buys up his latest product: Peckham Spring Water.

Unbeknownst to Myles, the product is actually just water from Del Boy’s tap.

Robert’s other huge roles

Robert famously played Ash Morgan in the BBC thriller series Hustle.

Ash was a con-man who regularly reinvented himself in order to pull of his schemes.

He was the only actor to star in every episode of the series.

Fans might also recognise the actor from the BBC spy drama Spooks, where he played Home Secretary Nicholas Blake.

The series also starred Keely Hawes, who was Robert’s brother Phillip’s co-star on Ashes to Ashes.

Robert’s love life

Robert is married to BBC radio producer and director Celia de Wolff, with whom he has a son.

He was previously married to Amanda Redman, an actress known for roles in New Tricks and The Good Karma Hospital.

The pair have one daughter together but divorced in 1992 after marrying just eight years earlier.
