Russia extradited suspect to Kazakhstan, who faces up to 10 years in prison
Tengrinews.kz - A Kazakhstani suspect in a large-scale fraud has been extradited from Russia, according to the General Prosecutor's Office.
According to the General Prosecutor's Office, in 2023, the suspect promised to deliver cars from Korea at below-market prices, deceiving six victims from Almaty and causing them a total loss of over 145 million tenge.
"After committing the crime, the suspect fled and was placed on the international wanted list. In April of this year, he was arrested in the Krasnodar region of the Russian Federation and was subsequently extradited to Kazakhstan at the request of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the statement said.
The suspect is currently being held in a detention center. If convicted of the crime, he faces imprisonment for a term of five to ten years, with property confiscation.
Earlier, Kazakhstan's Attorney General Berik Asylov reported that 56 individuals accused of serious and particularly serious crimes had been extradited to Kazakhstan.
