Almaty prepares stadium for Jennifer Lopez Concert: What to expect
Tengrinews.kz - Jennifer Lopez is set to perform at Almaty’s Central Stadium on August 10. Ahead of the highly anticipated show, city officials shared details about the preparations underway.
Stadium readiness
Minor construction and maintenance work at the stadium is scheduled to be completed by August 9.
"The lighting system was upgraded earlier this year, with over 50 floodlights replaced. In addition, pest control and sanitation work has been carried out, hygiene facilities were updated, fencing was restored, and landscaping was completed in the surrounding area," the city akimat (local government administration) said.
Around 100 portable toilets will be installed along the stadium perimeter to accommodate the large crowd.

Security measures
Authorities are currently reviewing the venue to ensure it meets all safety standards.
“This concert is a major event for Almaty. How well it's organized will directly impact the city’s international reputation. Large-scale shows like this one attract attention and are important for the development of tourism,” noted Deputy Akim Azamat Kaldybekov.
According to the city akimat, a total of 2,960 personnel will be deployed to ensure public safety during the concert: 2,240 police officers, 600 military personnel, 120 private security staff, and 300 volunteers. Security checkpoints will be equipped with metal detectors and 52 handheld scanners.
The stadium will be divided into four main fan zones, each designed to accommodate 2,000 to 3,000 spectators.
Ambulances and fire trucks will also be stationed on site.
To ease traffic and improve access, 50 buses will operate along special routes. Public transport will run along Abai, Satpayev, and Baitursynov streets. Visitors will be guided by navigation signs and LED screens.
Fans are looking forward to hearing some of Lopez’s biggest hits, including On the Floor, Ain’t Your Mama, and Let’s Get Loud.
However, concerns remain among some locals regarding the stadium’s readiness. Originally built in 1958, the Central Stadium has undergone several renovations, but critics argue that its infrastructure remains outdated.
Tengrinews.kz correspondents submitted an official request to visit the venue and prepare a photo report on how the stadium is being prepared to host a global star. However, access to the site was denied.
