One new movie that everyone seems to be talking about in Sector 36. The film released on OTT platform Netflix and is a crime thriller inspired by true events. The chilling story is based on the Nithari Kand where several children were kidnapped and killed and it stars Vikrant Massey in a never seen before role. It also stars Deepak Dobriyal as a cop who is out to solve the mystery of missing children. He finally nabs the serial killer Prem (Vikrant) who confesses to his crimes and wears them like badge of honour. While being a crime thriller at its heart, Sector 36 also touches upon themes of power and social inequality.
After the success of 12th Fail, Sector 36 is getting great appreciation for Vikrant Massey, with fans as well as critics calling it his best ever, and the best of 2024 so far. The movie is doing well on Netflix, quickly becoming one of its best foreign titles this year.
The intense film is directed by debutant Aditya Nimbalkar, with screenplay by Bodhayan Roychaudhury. The interesting part about Sector 36 is that it had an open-end leaving scope for a sequel and that is also a point of discussion on social media platforms with fans wondering if Sector 36 will have a sequel.
Well, we feel Sector 36 doesn't require a sequel. The story is inspired by real events and Aditya and Bodhayan do a great job at depicting all the important aspects of the Nithari case and crimes' timeline in the 2-hour runtime of the movie. In fact, now following it up with a sequel may in fact dilute the essence of the first part and take the story more towards fiction that sticking to the real events, taking away from the intensity and emotional turbulence that sets Sector 36 apart from the other web series and movies on OTT in the same genre.
Sector 36 released on September 13 on Netflix and is already become a popular movie with fans and critics calling it a must-watch. However, since the movie is based on true crimes involving children, it may be triggering for some and therefore we advise caution before you decide to give this a watch.
