Peter Kay announces shock return to stand-up comedy with first live tour in 12 years
PETER Kay has announced his return to stand-up comedy with his first live tour in 12 years – starting this December.
The shock news broke during I’m A Celebrity this evening – leaving fans gobsmacked and desperate to get their hands on tickets.
It will be the first time that Bolton-born Peter, 48, famed for hit TV shows Car Share, Phoenix Nights and Max and Paddy, has performed a live stand-up gig since 2010.
Speaking about his return, he said: “It’s good to get back to what I love doing best, stand-up comedy and if there’s ever a time people need a laugh it’s now.
“And with the cost of living at an all-time high, ticket prices are starting from £35. The same price they were on my previous tour in 2010.”
Peter will begin his tour on December 2 at the Manchester AO Arena before visiting locations including Birmingham, Liverpool and Dublin, ending in August 2023 at the Sheffield Utilita Arena.
In 2018 Peter cancelled an upcoming sell-out 100 gig nationwide tour.
At the time he said: “Due to unforeseen family circumstances I deeply regret I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects.
“My sincerest apologies.
“This decision has not been taken lightly and I’m sure you’ll understand my family must always come first.”
Last year Peter appeared at two charity Q&A shows in Manchester for brain cancer patient Laura Nuttall.
