I’m a foodie – here’s how to make the best potato wedges in your air fryer & the key step that everyone always forgets
A FOOD fan has taken to social media to share her simple recipe to create the ultimate potato wedges.
22-year-old Sheyna Patel, also known on TikTok as @shey.cooks, took to the video sharing platform to reveal how she uses her air fryer to get the best-tasting potato wedges.
According to Sheyna, there is a key step that everyone always forgets, but it is essential if you want your wedges to taste amazing.
Sheyna, who has amassed 116.8k followers and 2.3million likes on the social media app, shared her video with the caption ‘this is your sign to get an airfryer.’
She said: “I am completely obsessed with my air fryer and yes, it’s part of my personality trait now.
“So let me show you how to make my air fryer potato wedges.
“So I’m using russet potatoes and we’re just going to cut that down the middle and cut those halves into three or four even wedges, depending on the size of potato.
“Put in a little ice bath, let it soak for a bit and then pat them completely dry.
“I then add avocado oil and then I season – I use onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, pink himalayan salt, freshly ground black pepper and cornstarch.
“Then you’re going to make sure that’s all evenly mixed up and coated and then we place it in our air fryer basket.
“The key here is not to overcrowd it.
“Then you’re going to cook it, flip it halfway through and then after that top it with some parsley.”
Sheyna explained that the ice bath will get rid of the starch from the potatoes.
Excess starch can stop the potatoes from cooking evenly as well as creating a gummy or sticky texture on the outside of your potatoes.
Cold water is used because hot water would react with the starch activating it, making it harder to separate from the potatoes.
She also added that you should put the wedges in the air fryer at 180 degrees celsius for 10-15 minutes.
Her video has clearly impressed many, as it has quickly gone viral and has since racked up a whopping 10.9million views.
It has 1.1million likes, 2,579 comments and 66.1k shares.
Social media users were left open-mouthed at the recipe and were eager to reflect this in the comments.
One person said: “It looks great!”
Another added: “I love this recipe.”
A third commented: “Amazing”
