My tumble dryer broke & I had to wait weeks for a new one, so I bought a Wilko device to help – it cost 50p for an hour

THERE’S nothing worse than your tumble dryer breaking in the winter.

And when Jodie’s packed up, she was told it would be two weeks before she could get a new one.

It costs about 50p an hour to run, and got most of her laundry dry in that time[/caption]

So she went online, and found the AMOS Eezy-Dry Electric Clothes Dryer for £50 on the Wilko website.

Jodie took to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group on Facebook to share her bargain buy, adding that she’d be keeping the dryer as a “back up” once her actual tumble dryer is fixed.

“I’ve got seven big towels in there, two tea towels and a small dog blanket on an hour setting,” she wrote.

“Will let you know how it goes.

“Folds up flat too with the cover still on against a wall or behind a door.”

Jodie then returned to the post to offer an update later on, writing: “So far I’ve had it on an hour, its cost around 50p but they are thick bath towels so I’m expecting to take longer.

“It’s costing less than the big tumble dryer – I usually have to put the towels in twice.

“To be honest I can’t wait till we get better weather and I can use the washing line again.”

She then posted another update, adding: “Trying some smaller items now.

“I think its good and the other half said it would be good for camping.”

Others shared their own ways of getting their laundry dry, with one posting a snap of their own, much smaller, heated airer.

“I have one I’m currently using it to dry work clothes and keep my flat warm it’s great,” she wrote.

“Does come with cover – every so often I turn stuff over to get it dry quicker.”

“Surely it’s cheaper to run a tumble dryer?” someone else asked.

“I know yours is broken at the minute, I just mean in general.

“My dryer only takes an hour to dry an 8kg load on eco mode.”

To which Jodie replied: “I’ve just looked at the cost, I’ve used about £1 for 160 min and it’s practically dry.

“Only a bit damp on the edges of the towels as they scrunched up a bit on the rail.”

“I bought one like this on amazon,” another commented.

“I can dry a full 10kg washer load in 2 hours and cost around quarter of what my dryer costs.”

“I love mine and it serves double purpose as it heats the place up while it’s on so no need for any additional heating!” someone else pointed out.

Not everyone thought it was a good idea though.

“I found it waste of money and no good,” one wrote.

“Get a dehumidifier much better and cheaper to run,” another added.

As a third said: “Rubbish my sister has one..coming apart at the seams.

“She does not use it.”
