Ex-Liverpool forward joins top Premier League on permanent deal from Besiktas

Ex-Liverpool forward Ryan Babel has joined Premier League side Fulham on a permanent switch from Besiktas until the end of the current campaign.

According to a UK Daily Mail report, the 32-year-old Dutch forward, who spent three-and-a-half years stay at Anfield previously is thrilled playing in the English topflight again.

Speaking with fulhamfctv moments after signing the six months short deal, Babel revealed he is ready to get on the pitch, and do what he loves most.

“My first impressions are good and I'm very excited.

“I definitely have faith that Fulham can stay up. That's one of the reasons that I'm here, to try and help that to happen. I'm ready to go, I'm excited and I can't wait,” Babel submitted.

Reacting further, Fulham vice-chairman Tony Khan stressed that the Dutchman experience will come in handy, with the Cottagers keen on avoiding the drop from the Premier League.

“Ryan has excelled at playing attacking football on both the club and international stage, and we welcome that experience as we build our squad for a strong second-half push with nine important home fixtures remaining, beginning Sunday when Spurs visit the Cottage.

“Ryan scored 15 goals across all competitions last season and arrives with the support of our manager.

“Claudio and I are confident that Ryan's return to the Premier League here will be every bit as good for him as his addition will be good for our squad. Come on Fulham!”

Babel netted six times with one assist in the Turkish Super Lig for Besiktas.

He featured for 146 times for Liverpool from 2007 to 2011 before heading to Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim.

Interestingly, the Dutchman also had spells with Ajax before moving to Turkish side Kasimpasa, UAE’s Al Ain and Deportivo La Coruna.

Fulham are currently placed 19th in the Premier League log five points from away from relegation.
