I will resign from Senate if I lose any unit in my constituency to APC - Nwaoboshi

- Senator Peter Nwaoboshi has vowed to resign if he loses any unit in Oshimili North constituency to the All Progressives Congress in the 2019 general elections

- Nwaoboshi is the senator representing Delta North senatorial district at the upper chamber

- The lawmaker is seeking re-election to the Senate on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party

As the 2019 general elections draw nearer, the lawmaker representing Delta North senatorial district, Peter Nwaoboshi, has said he will resign if he loses any unit in Oshimili North constituency to the All Progressives Congress.

Nwaoboshi, who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming elections, stated this during PDP campaign in Akwukwu-Igbo, the council headquarters, Daily Trust reports.

Legit.ng gathers that the lawmaker assured his supporters that the PDP would not lose any unit in his locality.

Meanwhile, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state called on Senator Nwaoboshi and all PDP supporters to ensure that the opposition party in the state does not have a single vote.

The governor called on the people to re-elect him, adding that the state should be governed by someone who has the capacity and capability to deliver.

Okowa said: “I don’t know whether my opponents have capacity but if you see them, ask them if they really have the capacity to govern Delta State. To govern Delta State cannot be by trial and error. It is for somebody with the capacity and capability to deliver."

Legit.ng previously reported that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state urged security agencies and those who will be involved in the conduct of the 2019 general elections to be impartial.

The governor made the call on Tuesday, January 14 when the south south zone of the Police Service Commission (PSC) monitoring team led by Austin Braimoh paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Asaba.

He said: "politicians should be allowed to campaign freely, they should be allowed to reach out to the people to ask for votes, but, the people must also be allowed to exercise their will freely and we expect that impartiality is carried and there is no form of intimidation of voters in the course of the election because, when such happens, it will create a lot of challenges that will run in the course of the post-election era.

"Nigerians expect that the 2019 election will be hitch free, free, fair and peaceful and the will of the people will prevail, because, the proper conduct of the elections will deepen the strength of our democracy and bring more foreign investment.

“If we conduct an election that does not meet global standards, it will affect our democracy and our nation.

“We pray that we conduct an election that meets global standards and is acceptable to the world; our economy is presently challenged and any further challenge will set us back that is why we are in support of this sensitization programme and it should be taken closely to the rank and file of the Nigerian police, because, for the electoral process to go smoothly, the police has a lot of roles to play to boost voters confidence."
