Banks-Bragan DFW Chapter meeting (Arlington, TX)
Please save March 27, 2019, 7 p.m. at Globe Life Ballpark, Suite 305, for our next Banks-Bragan DFW Chapter SABR meeting. It promises to a be a blockbuster event! All baseball fans are welcome to attend.
We’ll have both Jane Leavy, author of The Big Fella: Babe Ruth and the World He Created, and Ron Rapoport, author of Let’s Play Two: The Legend of Mr. Cub, the Life of Ernie Banks, speaking to us and signing books. Both have literally spent years researching their subjects and writing these definitive biographies.
Jane Leavy is of course known for her New York Times best-selling biographies on Sandy Koufax and Mickey Mantle. She is an award-winning former sportswriter and feature writer for the Washington Post.
Ron Rapoport was a sports columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times and the Los Angeles Daily News and was sports commentator for National Public Radio's "Weekend Edition Saturday." He also wrote about sports for the Los Angeles Times and the Associated Press in New York and San Francisco. He is the recipient of the Ring Lardner Award for Excellence in Sports Journalism.
