2019: Free yourselves from bondage - Peter Obi tells Lagos women (photos)

-A former governor of Anambra state have called on women in Lagos to free themselves from poverty and bondage

- Peter Obi who is also the running mate to PDP presidential candidate also slammed the ruling APC-led government

- Obi said only PDP can deliver Lagos and its people

The vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi, on Tuesday, January 15, charged women in Lagos state to vote massively for the opposition party to enable them attain freedom from bondage.

Obi also slammed the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government for subjecting the populace to suffering, hunger and poverty. 

While speaking at a rally organised by member representing Ajeromi/Ifelodun federal constituency, Honourable Rita Orji, to sensistise the southeast, south south and Arewa women groups in Lagos.

The running mate to Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate said the government of APC has killed the country.

"Lagos is under slavery and it takes Jimi Agbaje (the PDP governorship candidate) to deliver the state," Obi said.

He further urged the women to mobilise for the PDP presidential candidate in the forthcoming election, assuring them of favourable engagements in the Atiku/Obi presidency. 

"It is only Atiku that can deliver us from poverty, he is a business man and he has many companies. This one, when he came, he had 160 cows and up till now, the cows have not increased," Obi said.

Also speaking at the occasion, wife of the PDP presidential candidate, Jennifer Abubakar, said the key to unlocking the breakthrough of the nation lies with the women.

Accoding to Jennifer, only women can redeem the nation through massive mobilisations for the 2019 elections. 

Obi said only PDP can deliver the state from the ruling party.

"It is true there is hunger, it is true that our children are dying, but it takes the women to redeem the county. 

"The women have said it enough, about the hunger and about the children dropping out of school, but we cannot say it more than the people who are Atikulating," Jennifer said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the Coalition of Ethnic Nationalities for the Atiku Agenda (CENTAA), one of Atiku Abubakar’s campaign groups has rejected the replacement of Imohimi Edgal, the former Lagos police commissioner, with Kayode Egbetokun, former chief security officer of Bola Tinubu.

The president of the group, Adeoye Jolaosho, in a statement released on Monday, January 14, said Egbetokun's appointment is aimed at rigging the forthcoming elections in favour of the ruling party.
