Man City refuse to engage over ‘web of lies’ regarding FFP breaches
January 16 – Manchester City have so far declined to provide UEFA with any comment over allegations that they breached financial fair play regulations since the club argues the claims were based on “hacked or stolen” emails.
The Guardian newspaper reports that UEFA wrote to City before Christmas inviting a response to allegations by German magazine Der Spiegel that the club’s declarations in 2013-15 were “a web of lies”.
City argue the Der Spiegel reports are an “organised and clear” attempt to “damage the club’s reputation” and that the documents quoted are “materials purportedly hacked or stolen” and have been used “out of context”.
