Second Lady Takes Part-Time Art Teaching Gig At Christian Elementary School
Karen Pence, the second lady, has a new job: teaching art at a nearby Christian elementary school, according to a statement from her office.
Pence accepted the position in December and will teach twice a week at Immanuel Christian School in Virginia, where she taught for 12 years while then-Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN) was working on the Hill.
“I am excited to be back in the classroom and doing what I love to do, which is to teach art to elementary students,” Pence said in the statement. “I have missed teaching art, and it’s great to return to the school where I taught art for twelve years.”
Pence has been an art educator for years, is an artist herself and has advocated for art therapy since her husband joined the administration.
