Armenia’s State Revenue Committee ‘axes 128 jobs’ amid optimization reforms

0

The State Revenue Committee has cut down 128 jobs as part of its restructuring reforms aimed at the optimization of workload, the agency’s chief said today, describing the layoffs as “just the start” of the rehabilitation efforts.

“Back on October 20, a total of 580 employees from seven departments exercising inspection, i.e. – tax oversight, were given notices on structural changes and consequent possible job cuts. Some 128 out of those 580 have been laid off,” David Ananyan told reporters.

In his words, the staff optimization was largely due to a centralization of the inspection functions.

“The decision for every single employee was made based on the collegiality principle. Those 580 employees underwent an evaluation of their abilities for two months. In the process of the dismissals, unfortunately, we had to make the choice between the good and the best. We were forced to make such a decision as part of the re-organization of functions and structural changes,” he added.
