There's already a teaser trailer for the new Ghostbusters movie
Nobody even knew another Ghostbusters movie was in the works 24 hours ago, but a teaser trailer for the surprise sequel has just arrived.
Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday unveiled the short video, which doesn't seem to have any actual footage from the film seeing as it hasn't even started shooting yet. But in the teaser, the camera slowly pans into a barn and we hear a bit of the iconic original film's score as the Ecto-1 is revealed. "Summer 2020" then appears onscreen in the immediately recognizable Ghostbusters font.
As was announced Tuesday, this Ghostbusters film, which had been successfully kept a secret until now, will take place in the universe of the original two installments rather than that of the 2016 reboot from director Paul Feig. It's being directed by Jason Reitman, son of Ivan Reitman, who directed the original two films. It's not yet clear whether the film's original cast will return; Bill Murray for years had said he would not make a third Ghostbusters, although he did cameo in the 2016 reboot as a different character.
Sony is wasting no time getting the new film off the ground, as it's set to begin shooting "in a few months," Entertainment Weekly reports. Watch the teaser below.
