New IG of Police in Nigeria
On Tuesday, the President Muhammadu Buhari appointed a new Inspector General of Police. Who is the new IG of Police in Nigeria? The former head of the police force, IGP Idris retired and was replaced by AIG Mohammed Adamu.

The President honored Adamu with a new title at the meeting with former IG of Nigerian Police, Ibrahim Idris and his successor at the presidential villa in Abuja.
Nigerian society responded to the appointment of new IG of police in Nigeria in different ways. Some Nigerians welcome the change of the head of the Nigeria Police Force. The others relate to the MPF chief change before the elections with caution. They point to the benefits of this appointment for the northern part of the country.

AIG Mohammed Abubakar Adamu’s police career
The current Inspector General of Police, AIG Mohammed Abubakar Adamu is a native of Lafia in Nasarawa State. He has Bachelor's degree in geography.
Adamu was accepted into the Police Force on the 1st of February, 1986. Firstly, he was a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of NPF. Abubakar Adamu served as a Directing Staff at NIPSS (Kuru, Jos, and Plateau State) before he was appointed as AIG of the police force in Nigeria. Besides, Adamu acted as a police commissioner in Ekiti State and Enugu State.
Once he served as a director of peacekeeping operations of NPF. Also, he was AIG of police force responsible for Police Command Headquarters of Zone 5 (Benin, Edo State).
The IGP post is very responsible. We hope to see Mohammed Abubakar Adamu’s positive results soon.
