[Bowling] Women's team rolls to fourth straight tourney win

The St. Ambrose women are on an amazing run of success. This past weekend, the women came out on top of a 21-team field at the annual Storm Baker Challenge, held in Addison, Ill. 

The women qualified as the top seed (7493), with Robert Morris University (7178) and Aquinas College (7157) as the second and third seeds. In the bracket match play finals, they defeated No. 8-seed Lewis University 3-1, and followed that up with a 3-2 win against No. 5-seed Lindenwood before topping No. 2-seed Robert Morris University 3-2 in the championship match. 

The women have now captured five tournaments this season, and they've currently won four in a row. Those four include the Leatherneck Classic, National Match Games, Warhawk Open and now the Storm Baker Challenge.

The women's JV squad was also victorious this past weekend. They qualified on top of the nine team women's JV field, and topped Lindenwood University 3-2 to take home the title.

The men's team didn't enjoy their best event, qualifying sixth in a 21-team field. They posted a 7804 pinfall total for 40 baker games; the top three qualifiers were Robert Morris University (84460), Calumet College of St Joseph (8057) and Grand View (8013). In the finals, they knocked off the No. 3-seed Grand View 3-2, and grabbed a quick 2-0 lead over Calumet before falling 3-2 in the semifinals.

The men's JV squad qualified sixth in a 16-team men's JV field, narrowly missing out in a spot in the four-team bracket finals. They stormed back from a disappointing Saturday to rally on Sunday, but watched that rally come up short in the final stretch.

Both men's and women's varsity squads take to the lanes this weekend at the Tier 1 Kegel Collegiate Classic at Stardust Bowl in Addison, Ill.
