Bodycam Video Shows Police Shootout With Suicidal Suspect
The New Orleans Police Department today released footage from an officer's body camera that shows what happened the night an officer fatally shot Zonell Williams in Treme.
The investigation is ongoing, but Chief Michael Harrison said the video supports the officers justifications for opening fire.
Officers responded to a 911 call in the 2300 block of Orleans of an attempted suicide. An exchange of gunfire ensued and an officer was hit in the chest, but the bullets were stopped by a protective vest. Williams was hit multiple times and died at the hospital.
