A total fire ban has been declared for the Southern Slopes region of New South Wales as the state comes to the end of a record-breaking heatwave. Anyone is being urged not to light, maintain or carry out any activity which is likely to start a fire. The bans have affected Cootamundra-Gundagai, Hilltops and Snowy Valleys councils.
