Stop insulting us

The other day, a very good friend of mine who works in Gozo for a Maltese company told me he would be going to work in suit and tie the next morning because directors were visiting their back-office in Gozo. Their daily attire is smart casual but, on that occasion everyone thought it fit to up the dress code by one notch. Some would call that ‘submissive attitude’ or ‘colonial mindset’. I call it ‘respect’.

I met my friend the next day and he informed me they called off the Gozo meeting because of the bad weather. This was two days after the ferry cancelled some trips. The evening when the meeting was cancelled was gloomy but the northwesterly wind was not more than a Force 3. Light drizzles in the evening and Force 4 northwesterly wind were forecast for the day of the meeting. Nothing out of the ordinary but enough for the board to call the Gozo meeting off.

Please, stop insulting us Gozitans, for whom Force 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and even 9 winds are not an excuse if the ferry is running. Stop insulting Gozitans who are given nasty looks when they arrive late for work because the ferry took longer to make the crossing.

And, oh, the fixed link will not solve traffic problems and neither...
