Gregor Gillespie robbed during UFC Brooklyn

0

The rising UFC lightweight and former NCAA national champion wrestler got a big win on Saturday, but still ended the night with a loss.

A fighter was robbed on Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY and it wasn’t by the judges. Rising lightweight Gregor Gillespie dominated Yancy Medeiros for almost ten full minutes before getting the TKO stoppage with just one second left in round two. The win was his thirteenth straight over his unbeaten career, and his sixth straight inside the Octagon. Most likely a name opponent is on the horizon for the native upstate New Yorker.

However, despite all the positives taken away from Gillespie’s performance on January 19th, he still ended the night on a loss. While he was out in the cage competing, someone was stealing his gear backstage.

Gillespie took to social media after the event with a plea to the criminals that stole his stuff. They can keep his fight gear, but he wants his wallet and his mouthpieces back.

Hopefully, at the very least, Gillespie’s missing wallet doesn’t cut into his post-fight fishing plans. The self-described ‘best fisherman in MMA’ was preparing to go out for his next trip on Monday to the finger lakes just south of Lake Ontario. But, in an update on Instagram the ‘Gift’ announced that the trip would be delayed a day due to extreme windchill. Still, at least it doesn’t sound like the robbery will have him missing out on the important things, just the weather.
