[Track and Field] Cavs snag school records, national and conference qualifications at Gamecock ...

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Montreat College track and field opened the 2019 stint of its indoor season this past weekend at the University of South Carolina's Gamecock Inaugural. The Cavs' performance featured five school records, two national qualifiers, and nine conference qualifiers.

"For our first meet back from the break, we were pretty pleased with the results. It is always a bit of a "rust buster" coming off the break but we had some great performances over the weekend. We're excited to build off of this momentum as we head to Roanoke College next weekend," said Jason Lewkowicz, director of track and field.

Two members of the women's team set school records as Romane Baudin posted a time of 46.10 in the 400m and Lydia Wilson finished the 3,000m with an eighth-place finish time of 10:27.00.

On the men's side, the school records came from Ahmad Perryman's seventh-place finish in the 400m invitational (48.38), Antonio Gomez's 12th-place finish in the 800m (1:56.73), and Micah Matheson's fourth-place finish in the pole vault invitational (4.65m).

Other notable performances include Jacob Prater's fourth-place mark of 13.42m in the triple jump while Joshua Auvil was able to launch a 13.10m in the shot put, landing him eighth place.
