[Women's Basketball] Lewis selected as KCAC Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week
Kansas Wesleyan sophomore forward Virja Lewis (SO/Kansas City, Kan.) has been selected as the KCAC Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts in a pair of contests last week. The KCAC Player of the Week program is administered by the conference sports information directors.
Lewis was huge for the Coyotes in a 2-0 week which included an upset win over No. 7 ranked Sterling. In the win over Sterling, Lewis had 14 points and 13 rebounds which included going 6-of-6 from the field as the Coyotes knocked off the Warriors. On Saturday at McPherson, Lewis continued to excel, with seven points and 11 rebounds helping the Coyotes win on the road. For the week, Lewis shot 75 percent from the field and averaged a double-double.
The two wins by the Coyotes last week, coupled with a win over Southwestern on Monday, has Wesleyan 16-6 overall and 14-2 in the KCAC, just a half game out of first place behind Tabor and Sterling.
Wesleyan is on the road twice this week, at Avila on Thursday and at Saint Mary on Saturday.
