‘Rent’ Goals: Live TV Musicals Ranked by Ratings, From ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ to ‘Grease’ (Photos)
In way less than 525,600 minutes, Fox will air its live telecast of the Tony- and Pulitzer Prize-winning Broadway musical “Rent,” the latest in a string of real-time productions to hit the small screen.
Boasting a cast that includes Brandon Victor Dixon, Vanessa Hudgens, Tinashe, and Valentina and produced by “Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert” EP Marc Platt, the broadcast is going up against some stiff ratings competition compared to some (but not all) of the previous musicals to air on NBC and Fox.
Scroll through our gallery to see how each live production rank by Nielsen numbers since the genre’s rebirth, and check back at TheWrap Monday to see what numbers “Rent” puts up. Least-viewed is first, most-watched last.
