[Baseball] Baseball opens 2019 campaign Saturday at LSU-Shreveport

The pain of falling just short of qualifying for the Kansas Conference's postseason baseball tournament still haunts Yodai Nakamura (SR/Las Vegas, Nev.).

The Coyotes finished in a four-way tie for fifth place with York, Ottawa and Bethany at 14-16 in the final stand standings. The top six teams advanced, KWU and Bethany eliminated after the tiebreakers were calculated.

"Knowing we were almost there and not getting in and it coming down to the last day and a four-way tiebreaker … it really comes down to we only had to win one more game or maybe two more games," said Nakamura, a senior catcher and  returning starter. "So close. We have to get the job done when it's there."
