[Indoor Track & Field] Track and Field Roll Up New National Marks at Concordia

Doane Track and Field traveled to Seward on Friday to participate in the Concordia Classic. The Tigers walked away with 19 NAIA automatic or provisional qualifying marks and a Top 10 heptathlon mark. Of the Tigers' marks on the day, 13 were new or improved national marks.

For one Tiger, the meet began on Thursday as Julius Dickmander (JR/Brule, Neb.) participated in the heptathlon. Over the two-day event, Dickmander recorded 4,635 points, a personal best and currently sixth in the NAIA. Individuals can also attain national qualifying marks in each discipline. Dickmander posted a height of 4.70m (15-05.00) in the pole vault for an automatic qualifying height.

In the pole vault portion of the meet, Levi Sudbeck (JR/Hadar, Neb.) cleared 4.70m (15-05.00) to tie for first place. Drew McClellan cleared 4.60m (15-01.00) to meet the provisional qualifying standard.

Henry Arnold (JR/Falls City, Neb.) hit a pair of national qualifying marks in the meet. In the long jump, Arnold cleared an automatic qualifying distance with a jump of 7.10m (23-03.50). In the triple jump, Arnold cleared 14.09m (46-02.75) to improve his provisional qualifying standard.

Simon Rangel (SR/Cozad, Neb.) notched two NAIA marks in the throws. In the shot put, he marked at 15.23m (49-11.75) to meet the provisional standard. He took second in the weight throw with a throw of 17.80m (58-04.75), meeting the automatic qualifying standard. Also in the weight throw, Richard Dover (SO/Norfolk, Neb.) met the provisional qualifying standard with a throw of 16.62m (54-06.50).

On the track, Alan Varela (SR/Oxford, Neb.) won the 600m run in a time of 1:22.55. His time meets the provisional qualifying standard.

For the Tiger women, Alexis Dale (JR/Ravenna, Neb.) and Shay Brown (SR/Roca, Neb.) tied for 1st in the high jump with NAIA automatic qualifying heights of 1.65m (5-05.00).

Doane had a trio meet the provisional qualifying height in the pole vault. Kaitlyn Mahnke (JR/Scribner, Neb.), Alyssa Downs (JR/Columbus, Neb.), and Courtney Schindler (JR/Norfolk, Neb.) all cleared 3.42m (11-02.50).

Taleah Williams (SR/Norfolk, Neb.) won the women's long jump with an automatic qualifying jump of 5.58m (18-03.75). Jaysa Hoins (SR/Superior, Neb.) took second in the triple jump as she met the automatic standard with a leap of 11.44m (37-06.50).

Kate Grint (JR/Ord, Neb.) once again met the automatic standard in the shot put and weight throw. Grint took runner-up honors in the shot put with a throw of 14.49m (47-06.50). She hit a mark of 17.42m (57-02.00) to take second in the weight throw. Jordyn Stearns (JR/York, Neb.) also met the automatic standard in the shot put as she improved on her throw from last week with a mark of 13.78m (45-02.50).

Next up for the Tigers is their final home indoor meet of the season, the Fred Beile Classic on Saturday, February 2.
