January 19 [A Year in SF Bay]
It’s a Saturday so event day at the club. Today’s event was a “Conklin Beach Swim” from the yacht harbor jetty end back to the clubs…LOTS of people and boats, very fun in relatively smooth waters.
I swan a full mile for the first time since December and MUCH warmer water…we are still around 52-53 degrees and going to get a couple or 3 degrees colder before the end of winter. Total time today was 52 minutes and change, so about 20 minutes longer than usual for me.
The tide was running a pretty strong flood (hence the swim this AM) so my time out to the Flag was fully 18 minutes and my time back to complete the first 1/2 miles was 9 minutes so much faster.
I was surprised by how cold my legs started to feel despite the relatively stable temperature day to day right now.
More tomorrow I hope! Pix at last!
