[Women's Tennis] Women's Tennis Adds Two for Spring Season

0

MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan University women’s tennis has announced the additions of Lena Golz and Haleigh Rowley. Both student-athletes are eligible for the upcoming spring season.

Golz hails from Germany and discovered Indiana Wesleyan from her sister, Constance, who played No. 1 at Huntington (Ind.) for four years. She was ranked No. 38 in the U18’s in Germany and No. 270 for all women’s players in 2018.

“We are excited that Lena is a part of the Wildcat Family,” said IWU head coach Eddy Shigley. “She is going to be a great addition to our team and will help us right away this semester. She is a terrific ball striker from the baseline and has a serve that will be used as an offensive weapon. Her sister was a wonderful player for Huntington and we are looking forward to Lena having an outstanding career at Indiana Wesleyan.”

Rowley transfers to Indiana Wesleyan from Palm Beach Atlantic. She is the daughter of Don and Shelli Rowley and returns home to Grant County where she was a 2018 graduate and No. 1 singles player at Mississinewa High School. Rowley is a four-time All-State Honorable Mention selection.

“Haleigh is a terrific athlete and a great student,” stated Shigley. “She competes hard every time she goes out on the court. We love her work ethic. She will provide spiritual maturity to our team and depth to our lineup. We are excited to have Haleigh at Indiana Wesleyan.”

Indiana Wesleyan went 16-0 during the fall season and won the Crossroads League regular season and tournament championships. IWU opens the spring season on February 9 at Butler (Ind.).
