Democratic processes 'irreversible' in Armenia, Pashinyan says in Germany
The democratic governance, which Armenia established after the “Velvet Revolution”, is from now an irreversible process for the country, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in Berlin, thanking European partners for the support to the ongoing reforms.
At a news conference following his private talks with Chancellor Angela Merkel, he also praised German government’s understanding approach to the country’s political context. “Germany never imposes and has never imposed geopolitical choices in the context of our reforms agenda. So that agenda can be used in a full-fledged format under the support of EU, especially Germany,” he said.
Noting that Armenian Government is currently implementing major projects attracting the German capital, Pashinyan also expressed hope for increasing investments in the country’s economy.
“We considered the situation in the region, and the international agenda. We have a mutual understanding. Stability and peace in the region are vital and must result from multilateral efforts. We considered the current situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement talks and agreed that the process cannot possibly go on as long as logic of unilateralism prevails. I am content with our discussions, and the negotiations. There aren’t any obstacles to the development of the Armenia-Germany relations; there is an interest to give them a new stimulus,” he added.
