Tens of thousands of families in New South Wales have had their electricity cut due to rising power bills. New data has also revealed the number of families forced to go onto hardship programs to ensure their power remains connected has increased by 19 per cent. It comes amid a national debate over energy, with power companies arguing a lack of government policy is behind the high prices.
