[Indoor Track & Field] Dale Matches High Jump Record at Beile Classic
Doane Track and Field traveled hosted the Fred Beile Classic on Saturday in Crete. The Tigers continued to show improvements along the way as 20 NAIA national qualifying marks were hit on the day and one school record was tied. Nine of the marks were season-best marks.
In the women's high jump, Alexis Dale (JR/Ravenna, Neb.) extended her NAIA national leading mark to 1.78m (5-10.00) and tied the school record that was set in 1992 by Jana Hochstetler at the NAIA District 11 meet hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan.
Claire Sintek (SR/Norfolk, Neb.) equaled her season-best in the high jump as she went 1.71m (5-07.25). Shay Brown (SR/Roca, Neb.) met the NAIA standard with a mark of 1.68m (5-06.00). Sintek and Brown are tied for third on the NAIA chart this season.
In the women's pole vault, Alyssa Downs (JR/Columbus, Neb.) matched her season-best with a height of 3.42m (11-02.50), meeting the provisional qualifying standard. In the women's triple jump, Jaysa Hoins (SR/Superior, Neb.) improved her NAIA automatic qualifying mark with a jump of 11.61m (38-01.25) and sits 8th nationally.
Kate Grint (JR/Ord, Neb.) surpassed the NAIA auto standard in the shot put and weight throw once again. In the weight throw, she posted her second-best personal mark with a throw of 17.98m (59-00.00). That mark sits behind her school record mark hit earlier this year. In the shot put, Grint hit a throw of 14.18m (46-06.25). Jordyn Stearns (JR/York, Neb.) also met the automatic standard with a throw of 13.76m (45-01.75), just 0.02m off her season-best.
On the track for the women, the team of Logan Hayek (SO/Wilber, Neb.), Mackenzie Brandl (SO/Stanton, Neb.), Delaney Lemkau (SR/Sutton, Neb.), and Annika Pingel (FR/Pella, Iowa) hit a provisional qualifying standard in the 4x400m relay. They were clocked in 4:02.47 and currently sit 10th nationally.
For the men on the track, the 4x400m relay team of Logan Hammond (SO/Ogallala, Neb.), Peyton Harsin (JR/Syracuse, Neb.), Alan Varela (SR/Oxford, Neb.), and Turner Hill (SR/Crete, Neb.) ran a time of 3:22.58 to meet the NAIA provisional qualifying standard. They are currently 13th in the NAIA.
Varela hit a season-best time for the Tigers in the 600m run. He met the provisional qualifying standard with a time of 1:22.46. Levi Sudbeck (JR/Hadar, Neb.) also improved his provisional standard in the 60m hurdles as he ran a time of 8.38 seconds.
Sudbeck did well in his field events as well, meeting the automatic standard in the pole vault with a mark of 4.70m (15-05.00) and hitting a provisional standard in the high jump with a height of 1.99m (6-06.25).
Eddie Sierra-Lee (FR/Moline, Ill.) matched Sudbeck in the pole vault with a height of 4.70m (15-05.00). Austin Becker (SR/Norfolk, Neb.) equaled Sudbeck in the high jump with a height of 1.99m (6-06.25).
Simon Rangel (SR/Cozad, Neb.) hit two NAIA standards in the throws. In the shot put, he had a season-best throw of 15.32m (50-03.25) to meet the provisional standard. In the weight throw, he had an automatic qualifying throw of 17.48m (57-04.25).
Henry Arnold (JR/Falls City, Neb.) posted a jump of 6.96m (22-10.00) in the long jump to meet the provisional qualifying standard. In the triple jump, he had a season-best leap of 14.17m (46-06.00) to improve his provisional standard.
The Tigers will travel to Seward on Friday, February 8, to participate in the Concordia Invite for the final meet before the conference championships.
