Fairburn Police Officer Run Over By Suspect in Hotel Parking Lot
A Fairburn police officer was rushed to the hospital early Monday morning after a driver ran him over.
It happened in a parking lot on Senoia Road after the officer, identified as Officer Levar Simms, was called in as back-up on a suspicious vehicle call.
Police say once Officer Simms arrived, he approached a pick-up truck that Taurean McShane was driving and started talking to the suspect.
That's when Fairburn police say things escalated to a physical altercation where McShane ran over the officer's torso with the truck.
According to police, Simms was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in serious condition.
Authorities have located the burgundy truck McShane was driving, but has not found the suspect.
