The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) on the morning of February 4 urged drivers to stay off the roads as heavy snowy and slippery surfaces had led to multiple collisions and spin-outs. WSDOT Traffic shared multiple videos on Twitter showing vehicles spinning out and stalling, several collisions, and one vehicle going the wrong way on a freeway after it had spun out. “I’ve seen some bad ideas today, but this has got to be the worst,” the WSDOT said of the wrong-way driver. “We’ve got about 100 plows and trucks out between King County and the Canadian Border, so be careful around them,” the department said. “We had two trucks struck by other drivers last night, which takes them out of service.” The weather also left around 20,000 people without power, closed public schools, and led to the cancellation of garbage collection services.
