Most of the major European nations have recognized Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó as interim president. Germany, France, Spain, Britain and others issued an eight-day ultimatum to President Nicolas Maduro last month to hold a new election, which he rejected. Maduro, however, proposed to hold early parliamentary elections on Saturday.
