Google on Friday honoured German analytical chemist Friedlieb Ferdinand Runge who is responsible for identifying caffeine among other things. He is considered to be the originator of the widely used analytic technique of paper chromatography. He was also responsible for inventing the first coal tar dye and a process related to the process of clothes dyeing.
