UK due 70mph winds as Lake District rivers become raging torrents

Footage from the Lake District today (February 8) shows rivers turning into raging torrents during the storm that is hitting the UK this weekend.

The clip, filmed in picturesque tourist spot Ambleside, shows the effects of Storm Erik with the waterfall surging powerfully after the heavy rain.

The storm is expected to bring up to 70mph winds along the coast by Friday afternoon, threatening power cuts and flooding to much of the UK.
