A turtle in Miami, Florida, was released back into the wild after being rehabbed at the Pelican Harbor Seabird Station for 71 days. The turtle was one of two found chained together in the ocean, believed to have been part of a religious ceremony, the organization said. The Pelican Harbor Seabird Station shared footage of the peninsula cooter turtle’s release on Facebook. The second turtle was expected to be released by the Animal Recovery Mission. According to local media, the turtles were found in November, chained together with a hole drilled in their shells and a bag in the middle.
