[Women's Indoor Track & Field] Grint Named NAIA Field Athlete of the Week
The NAIA National Office announced on Wednesday evening the Track and Field Athletes of the Week. Doane's Kate Grint (JR/Ord, Neb.) was tabbed as this week's Women's Field Athlete-of-the-Week. This is the second straight week a Tiger field athlete has taken the honor as Alexis Dale (JR/Ravenna, Neb.) was honored last week.
Grint won the weight throw and shot put last Friday (February 8) at the Concordia Invite. In the weight throw, she broke her school record with a throw of 18.16m (59-07.00) and topped 34 other competitors. She ranks fourth nationally.
In the shot put, Grint posted a throw of 14.50m (47-07.00) to top 25 other throwers. Grint holds the second-best mark in the NAIA this season. Both of her throws on the week were the best in the NAIA according to USTF-CCCA.
Grint and the Tigers will compete in the GPAC Championships this weekend in Seward. Doane is the defending champions.
