Podcast: Using the Lakers' remaining schedule to figure out if they can still make the playoffs

The Lakers will probably need 17 wins to squeeze into the playoffs. Looking at the schedule, it’s hard to see where they all might come from.

The Los Angeles Lakers currently sit at 28-29, with 25 games remaining of what’s been a pretty frustrating season thus far. Today’s podcast content will look at the the remainder of this season and some larger picture topics that extend beyond this year.

The Lake Show

Let’s start with what’s immediately in front of us. The Lakers have 25 games to make up for the three that currently separate them from the Clippers and two that stand between them and the Sacramento Kings. Could either of those teams fall off as the pressure mounts? Sure, but relying on that is a great way to underperform.

As an exercise on today’s “The Lake Show,” Harrison and I break down the rest of this season game-by-game just to see how close the Lakers might get to the 17 wins that probably earns them a playoff birth. This really serves to hammer home just how difficult the home stretch is going to get.
